2. Overview
We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
3. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted on a rented server at Strato AG (Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany), which acts as our processor under a data processing agreement.
When you visit the site, our application access logs record only:
- Date and time of the request
- The URL/path requested
- The HTTP response status
We do not store visitors' IP addresses, browser type or operating system in these logs. Storage is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technical provision and security of the website). Log data is automatically deleted after 14 days.
4. License registration (email collection)
When you request a license — a free trial or a paid (Pro) license — we collect:
- Email address
- First and last name
We use this data solely to issue and deliver your license key and to send relevant product information. The legal basis is your consent for a trial license (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and performance of the contract for a paid license (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For a trial, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us via email.
We keep this data for the duration of your license/contract and afterwards only as long as statutory retention periods require (e.g. invoices under tax law). If you withdraw a trial consent, we delete the relevant data unless such a retention obligation applies.
Payment for paid licenses is processed by Paddle — see section 6.
5. Google reCAPTCHA
To protect against automated abuse, we use Google reCAPTCHA v3. It is loaded only after your explicit consent (checkbox). In doing so, data is transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; where required, the transfer is additionally safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). For more information, see Google's privacy policy.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
6. Payment processing (Paddle)
For the sale and processing of payments we use Paddle.com Market Limited (Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom). Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record (seller) and handles payment, invoicing and sales tax / VAT. When you make a purchase, your payment data is processed directly by Paddle. We do not receive credit card numbers or full bank details. For more information, see Paddle's privacy policy.
The legal basis is the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
7. Email delivery (Google Workspace)
To send license, confirmation and trial emails we use Google Workspace, provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). This processes your email address, your name and the license key, transmitted with TLS encryption. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) or your consent. Processing may also take place in the USA; this is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. A data processing agreement (Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum) is in place with Google.
8. Local storage (localStorage)
We use your browser's localStorage to save your preferred colour theme setting. No personal data is stored and no data is transferred to third parties.
9. No tracking or analytics services
This website uses no tracking tools, analytics services (such as Google Analytics) or advertising networks. We do not use tracking cookies.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR) – what data we have stored about you
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) – correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) – deletion of your data
- Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR) – restriction of processing
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) – receipt of your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection (Art. 21 GDPR) – objection to processing
To exercise your rights, please contact: support@talepal.org
11. Right to complain
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR.
