Getting Started with TalePal

Welcome to your new creative writing companion. This guide will help you set up TalePal and start writing your next masterpiece.

Installation

Install VS Code Extension
Search for "TalePal" in the VS Code Marketplace and click Install.
Configure AI Provider
Open TalePal settings and choose between Google Gemini (Cloud) or Ollama (Local).
Create Workspace
Run command TalePal: Create Workspace to initialize your story folder.

TalePal supports two main AI backends. You can switch between them at any time.

Note: We recommend starting with Google Gemini 2.0 Flash for the best balance of speed and quality.
